Our rooms are located on the Ground Floor of 956 Gympie Road, Chermside in the Chermside Medical Complex. It is on the left-hand side of Gympie Road heading away from Brisbane city.  The building is directly opposite the Westfield Chermside Shopping Centre, in front of the Wesley Mission Wheller Gardens Retirement Village. The rooms are located next to the pharmacy on the ground level floor of the building. 

There is parking on two levels at Chermside Medical Complex.  You can park for 2 hours in the visitor marked car spaces only.  This is written on the ground of each car space. 

You could also park at the Westfield Chermside Shopping Centre and walk across to our rooms.

  • Your referral from a GP or optometrist 
  • Any current glasses you wear 
  • A pension card if you have one
  • Your Medicare card
  • Your DVA Gold or White Card (if applicable) 
  • Your private health fund card for our records (if applicable) 
  • Any notes or relevant history about your eyes
  • A list of your current medications

At your appointment you may have drops in your eyes that can blur your vision and make you sensitive to light. We advise you arrange for someone to drive you home or you can use public transport for your appointment. Parking is available at the Chermside Medical Complex or at Chermside Shopping Centre. 

On average appointments can take 1 ½  to 2 hours. It will depend on what you are coming for on the day.  You may have dilating drops, or you may require further tests.

The doctors at Northside Eye Specialists are medical specialists and therefore you should be referred by either a General Practitioner or an Optometrist. By ensuring you have a relevant and current referral you are entitled to a Medicare rebate for your consultation. You are able to attend without a referral, but you will not receive as much back from Medicare.

Yes, if your referral is current this will maximise the Medicare rebate. The consultation and most testing procedures will attract a Medicare rebate which can be submitted by our front desk staff on your behalf.
